Agassiz Village is thrilled to announce that Board Member Theresa O’Bryant was recently awarded two prestigious awards for her unwavering commitment to service!
Theresa, who has served as President of Agassiz’s Board of Directors for the last two years, received the following recognition.
National Points of Light Award
The National Points of Light Award, also known as the Daily Point of Light, honors individuals who demonstrate the transformative power of service. Established by President George H.W. Bush, it is designed to recognize those who are driving significant and sustained impact through their everyday actions, and who are meeting critical needs in their communities, especially those focused on the goals for children and youth.
“This award is a testament to Theresa’s remarkable commitment to volunteerism and community service on a national scale,” says Lisa Carter, Agassiz Village Executive Director. “It’s an incredible recognition of her tireless efforts and the impact she has made in our community and beyond.”

New England Patriots Foundation 2024 Patriots Difference Maker of the Week Award
This prestigious award is part of the Patriots’ Celebrate Volunteerism initiative, which honors volunteers who make a difference in their communities.
Theresa was invited to attend the Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills home game on January 5, where she was given the award on the field by Patriots Owner Bob Kraft. In addition to this incredible recognition, the Patriots Difference Maker award comes with a $10,000 gift to Agassiz Village! This generous contribution will go a long way in supporting our mission and enhancing our impact.
“We are truly inspired by Theresa’s selfless and unwavering commitment to service. She embodies what it means to be a “Difference Maker,” and she surely has made an incredible difference in the lives of the kids we support at Agassiz Village, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her leadership guiding the Village,” says Carter.

Theresa attended Agassiz Village as a child and returned as a counselor in training, receiving critical leadership skills that she has employed throughout her life. Now the general counsel at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Theresa will mark her 50th anniversary of unwavering dedication and commitment to the Agassiz mission this year. Her impact on the organization is far-reaching, from rallying volunteers to supporting camp staff, initiating infrastructure improvements, and co-chairing Agassiz’s upcoming Capital Campaign.
“Agassiz Village Summer Camp is such a special place!” says Theresa. “As a former Agassiz Village camper, staff member, and now board member, I treasure having a meaningful opportunity to contribute to an effort to change the life trajectory of the children we serve. Volunteering my time and financially supporting Agassiz is an honor and a privilege. Whilst it is nice to receive recognition, this recognition is most appropriately shared with my fellow board members, the hardworking AV staff members, and, of course, the Agassiz Village campers we are privileged to serve. In 2025, I encourage others to make a choice to celebrate volunteerism by making a personal plan to donate your time, talent, and treasure to Agassiz Village! Join me in making a difference!”
Congratulations, Theresa, on your well-deserved recognition!
